About

Welcome to Voxeo Labs Web Log! My name is Chris Maxwell - and it’s my job to make sure our stuff plays nicely with other folk VoIP Stuff. In my blog, you’ll find the following topics discussed from time to time.

  • VoIP Standards and Practices
  • SIP Inter-operabability  - Voxeo Prophecy et al..
  • VoIP Carrier capabilities, interactions, and general notes on “Who does What and How.”
  • IP Communications News and Insights from the forefront of the war on traditional Telecom practices.
  • How-To Guides on Fun VoIP stuff.
  • Everything else fun and unusual in voice technologies.

I’ve been asked to include a little about myself so..My name is Chris, I have a B.A. from Baylor University and an M.B.A. oddly enough - in Telecommunications.  I’ve worked for Carriers such as AT&T, MCI, Verizon in Engineering roles involving Computing and Speech Recognition. I’ve also worked for Interactive Voice Response companies such as Intervoice, Edify and others. I’ve been working in Speech and Telephony for almost 20 years in technical roles in integration, inception, and test and deployment capacities. I came to Voxeo from Tellme in Silicon Valley. I’m interested in making computers understand human speech, telecommunications environments and networks, and other “robot-like” automation technologies. Why? Because these kinds of communications technologies and platforms are fun. When I’m not working in the Voxeo lab, I like building Motorcyles, Scuba Diving, and learning Hendrix licks on my Strat. My wife Megan and I are now expecting a son, which will be a nice complement to our dog - who has yet been unable to support herself by finding work in the Orlando area.  So - Make yourself at home, and please let me know via comment if there are any topics you would like to see addressed in this forum.  Again, Welcome!
